Product Overview
Experience the breathtaking skill of Kung Fu performed to perfection by the monks of the Shaolin Temple and for the first time by the female masters of the Yongtai Nunnery. This fascinating and beautifully shot film tells the story of the first Zen monastery in China, founded 1500 years ago by a Chinese Princess as a centre of Zen Buddhism for woman and as a school for female Kung Fu students. For this documentary, the Yongtai Nunnery has opened its doors to cameras for the first time in history, providing and insight into the education and art of China's Kung Fu nuns as they dedicate themselves to the deadly martial arts and path of enlightenment. Also documented are the ferocious fight sequences between the nuns and the Shaolin Monks upon the Holy mountain Songshan in their attempt to achieve recognition and equality begun centuries early by the legendary Zen Princess.
