Product Overview

Stumps - All Our Friends (LP) A genre-bending journey that plays off the juxtapositions of addiction and depression hidden in a scene of aesthetic beauty, All Our Friends, the debut album from STUMPS, is a thoughtful, humorous and crushing love letter to how our environments shape us. There was an element of obscurity in the formation of the Sydney three-piece. Born out of a friendship forged in the fires of Sydneyâs underground music scene, a severe laceration to the index finger of singer-guitarist Kyle Fisher while working in a bar, was the catalyst to STUMPS becoming a band on the brink of a breakthrough. A strenuous 10-month rehabilitation program hampered Fisherâs plans of moving to the United States in 2017, and with Merrick Powell (bass) and Jonathan Dolanâs (drums) formative hardcore-punk band Perspectives calling it quits that same year, three individuals at a crossroads saw opportunity. Dolan and Powell still had the will to create music, and with Fisher seeking a constructive output while dealing with the frustrations of a long-term injury and cancelled plans of a life abroad, the trio coalesced around a handful of songs written during his rehabilitation. The evolution of STUMPS from a band finding their feet, to drawing comparisons to Gang Of Youths and City Calm Down from some of triple jâs biggest names, was further developed on a pivotal writing trip taken during the winter of 2019 to Kangaroo Valley, New South Wales. With the additional contributions of two old friends, Fletcher Matthews as producer and Beau Somers as manager, STUMPS grew into a band taking a leap forward, ready or not, by fusing 80s and 90s Britpop with the catchy indie rock that defined the first decade of the 21st century.
