Product Overview
The story of an amazing woman who achieves something extraordinary.
When Ros Pritchard breaks up a scrap between rival politicians out the front of her grocery store, she little realises what her impromptu intervention will mean for her and her family. It is the lead up to a General Election, and one that is widely regarded as being the dullest in living memory. But Ros’s spontaneous outburst - captured by TV news crews sent to cover the political representatives - strikes a chord with disenchanted voters all over the country. Getting caught up in the media frenzy, Ros decides to throw her hat into the ring and stand for election. And as the requests to appear on various news programmes start rolling in, so do the phone calls from dozens of inspired women who decided to follow Ros’s lead and stand for office.
What began as a snap decision to make a point soon becomes a serious political campaign, and Ros’s family find themselves at the hub of a huge political campaign - much to the concern of her husband Ian who was very happy with their contented domestic existence before the media bombshell upset their lives.
The day of the General Election arrives and a newly invigorated electorate, engaged and excited by politics in a way that hasn’t been seen for years, turn out in their millions to vote for Ros Pritchard. A landslide result in favour of the Purple Alliance sees Ros Pritchard storm to power – which is where her problems really begin! Shocked at the size of her majority and the speed at which she has gone from working mum to Number 10 Downing Street, Ros is initially unsure whether she wants the responsibility of the job – worried at the impact it will have on her family and whether she can live up to England’s expectations.
