Pigalle is a French rock band , originally from Paris . It was formed in 1982 by François Hadji-Lazaro , bassist Daniel Hennion, Christian Gadré (keyboards, mandolin) and drummer Francis Gadré.
This second album is entitled Pigalle 2 , and is subtitled at length Afflicted Regards on the dreary and pitiful existence of Benjamin Tremblay, a dim character but oh so endearing.
The album includes one of their best-known songs , In the room of the tobacco bar on rue des Martyrs, on which a barrel organ and pop and rock influences are heard . The album cover is created by comic book artist Tardi.
